I always stock up on Darphin skin care products when in Paris, as most of their items are much cheaper there. I’d take the 100 Euros right into my favorite pharmacie in the sixth, and buy a few things. Every time I use Darphin, it reminds me of Paris!

We too on one trip to Paris found the stationery section of a department store. It was so beautiful and whimsical and magic that we bought pads and pencils back for gifts. It was difficult to translate what a delightful experience for us to those that received the souvenirs. Something so mundane for us was very much a treat to find!

I don’t know where the ‘reputation’ for rudeness in Franch waiters came from. I’ve been to Paris about 6 times and never had that experience – sometimes quite the opposite. What I do despise is poorly trained waitstaff in American restaurant who call everyone “guys”, even in a decent establishment when there are women at the table.

I really enjoyed your post about French food markets. It brought back memories of the Tuesday/Thursday market on the Boulevard de Port-Royal, just up the street from my apartment, and the market on the rue Mouffetard, and the wonderful traiteur near me where I sometimes treated myself to a special take-out dish for dinner. I can still hear the musicality of the vendors as they would say “Bonjour, Madame,” or “Au revoir, Madame,” their voices rising at the end of the phrase. Sharon

I teach the Provencal cuisine in the Luberon area (heart of Provence) and I found “the Provencal Cookbook” full of very good recipes and well written.
A very efficient way to discover the wonderfull Provencal diet which is,according to today’s understanding diet of nutrition, one of the most balanced and healthiest on the earth.
